The Sentencing Academy is a charitable incorporated organisation created in 2019 to promote more effective sentencing practices and to further professional and public understanding of sentencing. In line with our development plans we are pleased to offer a brand new role heading up our new effective sentencing workstream.
About the Role
Led by the data and research and in conjunction with the Directors you will help create a hub of excellence for effective sentencing, sharing the evidence with practitioners, policy makers and the research community. This is an exciting new opportunity that will contribute strategically and operationally to the growth of this new workstream and the future sustainability of the organisation.
We are looking for a talented professional with experience of working in a policy, practice or research capacity that has knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system. You will be goal orientated and motivated to help shape and inform change alongside a strong commitment to collaborate and work in partnership with key stakeholders. You will have an interest in the reduction of re-offending and want to positively impact upon what works in the efficiency and effectiveness of sentencing processes and practices.
What We Offer
The post is offered on a part time basis at 22.5 hours per week, initially as a fixed term contract till 31 October 2025 when it is hoped that this will be extended due to longer term additional funding. An attractive package is offered alongside flexible hybrid working arrangements with up to 4 times per month in person meetings expected, mostly based in London. The salary for a full time post at this level is £44,000 which is currently under review.
If you are excited by this opportunity but your experience does not exactly align with the job description then please do still apply as training and mentoring will be provided and you could just be the person for this role that we are looking for.
Please send across a copy of your CV and supporting statement showing how you meet the criteria for this post and what you would bring to this role to email@example.com. Closing date is Tuesday 31st January 2023 at 5pm.
