This post is being recruited as part of UCC Futures- Future Medicines

UCC Futures - Future Medicines combines a multidisciplinary team of renowned world leading scientists, engineers and clinician investigators at University College Cork and affiliated hospitals to deliver high-impact, transformational, next generation medicines and medical technologies.

It leverages the expertise and infrastructure across multiple Schools in UCC’s College of Medicine & Health, in addition to UCC Research Centres and Institutes including APC Microbiome Ireland and our flagship Tyndall National Institute.   This unique translational environment will become a magnet for small & medium enterprise and multi-national corporation investment in the region particularly across the biopharma, healthcare and medtech sectors. 

UCC Futures - Future Medicines is creating step-change advancements in earlier detection, faster prognosis and targeted treatments to reduce the global health burden and improve quality-of-life for patients with chronic conditions, such as cancer, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, and inflammatory diseases.

UCC wishes to appoint two senior lectureship posts:1) Senior Lectureship in Nursing; 2) Senior Lectureship in Community Nursing. Each appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching, assessment and programme development and administration at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as engage in high quality research relevant to nursing.

The successful appointees will hold a professional nursing qualification, hold a registration (or be eligible to register) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. Applicants will be expected to hold an academic qualification at PhD / Doctorate level and have considerable clinical experience in nursing (Senior Lectureship in Nursing) or community nursing (Senior Lectureship in Community Nursing).

The School of Nursing and Midwifery was established in 1994 and since then a wide range of programmes have been developed at both undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. In addition, the School has a growing suite of Continuing Professional Development modules supporting life-long learning. Currently the School has over 1,300 students and is one of the largest in the University; in addition, the School also has a growing body of international students. The School is committed to excellence and leadership in teaching, practice and research involving close collaborative relationships with health service providers, and national and international educators and researchers. The School holds the Athena Swan Bronze Award and is in the top 50 Schools of Nursing in the world and is first in Ireland according to the QS Rankings.

Appointment may be made on the Senior Lecturer Salary Scale: €75,426 – €106,871 (Scale B) / €72,840 - €101,527 (Scale A). Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
