The University of Leeds has a significant and growing activity in medical robotics and embedded systems. The research in this area is undertaken within the Institute of Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Sensing (IRASS) within the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. The Institute combines world-class expertise in surgical and medical robotics, assistive and rehabilitation robotics, ultrasonics, embedded systems, communication, sensing and control. The Institute is also a leader in Robotics at Leeds. Your research experience maybe in one or more of the following areas, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, robotics, computer imaging, ultrasonics, embedded systems design or other related areas within the Institute’s research remit.
The Institute has benefited recently with the multi-million-pound investment in the Bragg building which brings together experts in the field of robotics and sensing from the faculties of Engineering and Physical Sciences and experts within the faculty of Medicine and Health.
In addition to developing an active research portfolio, you will make a significant contribution to student education in the School. The University has an ethos of research-led teaching, and you will use your cutting-edge research to inform an innovative, creative approach to teaching and inspiring students at all levels. You will play a major role in developing and delivering our exciting new Electronics and Computer Engineering degree programme that will enable students to gain cutting-edge knowledge and skills in topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision and edge computing.
