The Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School is the senior officer of the Faculty and a member of the University’s senior leadership team. Reporting to the Provost & Vice-President Academic, the Dean is responsible for all aspects of the Faculty’s operations, including strategic planning, budget and funds allocation and development, management of senior administrative staff, maintaining and enhancing strong and productive partnerships with external constituencies, and working collaboratively with this outstanding Faculty to achieve even greater levels of excellence. We seek a highly-respected leader with integrity who possesses qualifications and accomplishments suitable for a tenured appointment in the Faculty, has a proven track record of successful leadership, the ability to develop and promote a shared vision, a demonstrated desire to engage with students and a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, decolonization and reconciliation. Leadership experience obtained in the legal profession will be considered, but a strong understanding of, experience with and affinity for the post-secondary education sector is preferred. They must be a highly collaborative colleague inspired by the prospect of working with the broader York University community during an exciting phase of growth. They must possess a vision for emerging trends in legal education, a strong commitment to academic scholarship and research excellence, including legal-based inquiry, an ability to inspire innovation and excellence, and a demonstrated record of achievement in their field. The appointment is based on a five-year term, which is renewable, with an expected start date of July 1, 2023 or as agreed upon with the successful candidate.
