Understand and apply BPP’s Visa Compliance processes and policies to provide a first-class approach to the University Central Administration department

The CAS Officer’s role will focus on processing and assigning requests for Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), working within our pipeline operational processes to ensure any applicants who BPP is seeking to bring to the UK meets the eligibility criteria for sponsorship under BPP's internal processes and the UKVI's policy and procedures. The role will ensure that student information is up to date in both BPP's and the UKVI's information databases to comply with BPP's sponsorship duties; conducting regular data cleansing activities to continuously evaluate data accuracy.

What you’ll be doing

  • Working closely with the International Recruitment/Admissions teams to provide advice on the immigration requirements that an individual applicant must meet to qualify for a CAS.
  • Checking all CAS requests thoroughly and ensure that only genuine students who meet the Home Office requirements are issued a CAS. (eg 5 year CAP, Academic progression etc)
  • Ensuring all CASs are assigned correctly and within agreed deadlines.
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders as required to resolve CAS issues.
  • Working as Level 1 user on the SMS (Sponsor Management System) to issue CAS.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of the Home Office rules and regulations in relation to the Student Route category.
  • Maintaining records of all CASs assigned with clear details of when students are expected to enroll for onward transmission to the Visa Compliance team
  • Working closely with the Visa Compliance team – informing them of last enrolment dates, refusals and non-enrolments
  • Maintaining confidential student information
  • Escalating issues where required to Line Manager

What we’re looking for

  • A degree or equivalent level qualification
  • Database management knowledge
  • Customer facing experience
  • Knowledge of a recognised Student Records Database is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Home Office procedures and SMS system
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Sector and the challenges surrounding this
  • Knowledge of the Immigration Rules and the ability to interpret complex rules and regulations
  • Administrative experience, preferably in the education sector
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to successfully multi-task
  • Maintaining records systems
  • A pro active and enthusiastic team player
  • Self-motivated with an ability to thrive under pressure
