To succeed, we are looking for a good first degree and PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent qualifications). You will ideally have two years' university teaching experience, preferably gained in a UK context, although you'll be supported to gain a teaching qualification if you do not have one. Membership of any relevant professional bodies is also desirable.
An in-depth understanding of the subject, including recent developments in materials, energy storage, fuel cells, nanotechnology, materials properties and characterisation techniques is essential for this role.
Committed to ensuring teaching content is stimulating, inspiring, appropriately challenging and reflective of the current state of the discipline and / or professional subject bodies, you're also adept at using initiative, creativity and judgement when undertaking research and scholarly activities.
Commencing as soon as possible, this is a permanent post based in Manchester with two overseas assignments per year working at Hubei University, China. You'll be based at Hubei University's campus in Wuhan for a six week delivery block, twice a year, typically, starting in September and February.
The successful candidate will receive an attractive reward and support package, including free on-campus accommodation during your time at Hubei University, paid return flights to the UK for the two periods based in China, tax equalisation on pay, and health insurance whilst on assignment. UK relocation support may also be offered, subject to eligibility.
Appointment will be subject to necessary UK and China visa and work permit requirements. Support will be provided by the University in applying for visas and work permits.
Applications must include a full up to date CV and a Covering Letter setting out your interest in both the role and the opportunity to teach and build links in China, along with details of how your knowledge, skills and experience match the essential criteria.
