BCAST is an internationally renowned research centre focusing metals research and is the host of two national centres of excellence in liquid metal engineering (the EPSRC Future LiME Hub) and in circular economy of metals (UKRI Interdisplinary Centre for Circular Metals). BCAST is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for both metal processing and characterisation. The research BCAST conduct span the length from fundamental research and pilot-scale industrialisation and is aimed at meeting the short, medium and long term needs of the automotive industry in UK.
The successful candidate will carry out routine testing and maintenance of analytical equipment and will support setting up of experimental procedures, design of experiment, participation in experiments for analytical and metal processing for research programmes.
We will consider qualified and well-motivated applicants from varying scientific and/or technical backgrounds with practical experience in general operation and maintenance of analytical equipment and some experience/or interested in gaining experience analytical methodologies including mechancial testing, chemical analysis, imaging and material characterisation.
The successful candidate should have good grades in GCSE Maths & English and technical qualification with an interest and hands-on experience in science and engineering disciplines. In addition, you should have good communication skills and be a team player.
