The post holder will work from the Civil Engineering Building, 7a JJ Thomson Ave, CB3 0FA, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
The key responsibilities and duties are to devise, implement, and test solutions for modelling road and building Digital Twins in cloud information architectures. This includes (i) developing the conceptual data structures and information architectures; (ii) implementing them into cloud common data platforms; (iii) implementing the extensions needed for all grant work package processes to interact with the DT and get value from it; (iv) testing and demonstrating the resulting system. The post holder shall also: disseminate outcomes to the projects' sponsors; manage own research and administrative activities; assist in student supervision and teaching; liaise with consortium partners, colleagues, and students; lead project tasks and consortium meetings; manage research and lab resources; and contribute to planning of projects led by the principal investigator.
The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are: (1) have obtained or be close to obtaining a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or Architecture, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: a) computing in civil engineering or architecture, b) computer vision, c) machine learning, or d) digital twins; (2) possess good writing skills and some research experience with sufficient breadth/depth of specialist knowledge in one or more of the areas above; (3) possess programming experience in one or more object oriented languages; and (4) possess communication and presentation skills. Academic teaching, supervision and/or industry experience is desired but not a requisite.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
Salary Ranges: *Research Assistant: £27,929 - £32,348 *Research Associate: £34,308 - £42,155
