Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Policing
About the opportunities: Working in the Department of Health and Social Sciences, and specifically the Sociology, Criminology, and Policing Subject Group, we have a number of posts available which are aligned to teaching and supporting learners on UWE policing provisions, which include the Policing Constable Degree Apprenticeship programme (PCDA), the Detective Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHeP) and Professional Policing Degree (PPD).
Successful candidates should expect to deliver content on the apprenticeship programme. This is a 3-year programme which is focused on the role of the Police Constable. In particular we are interested in candidates with knowledge in safeguarding vulnerability and risk and/or experience in the teaching and supervision of research. UWE have worked in partnership with Avon and Somerset Constabulary to develop integrated programmes which provide training and education across multiple cohorts each year.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to recruitment and outreach activities, such as Open Days and Applicant Days.
About you: We are looking for Lecturer and Senior Lecturers with a policing background and/or Policing Practitioners with teaching/training experience to join our diverse teaching team who are all passionate about their specialisms and dedicated to providing an outstanding student experience. The successful candidates will reflect these qualities, be collegiate, flexible and make a positive contribution to the apprenticeship programme.
The successful candidate will also be expected to work flexibly with regular working at Glenside campus and Police HQ, Portishead as well as other locations within Avon, Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus.
