An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow in Neonatology within the Centre for Perinatal Research, Lifespan and Population Health, School of Medicine, University of Nottingham based at the Queen’s Medical Centre. You will join an established team, led by Professor Don Sharkey (Professor of Neonatal Medicine & Technologies), whose main areas of research interest include newborn healthcare technologies in the neonatal setting. You will lead on the clinical studies developing a new medical device specifically for newborn care on the intensive care unit. You will work with the University team and industrial partner to develop the device into an advanced vital sign monitor specifically for newborn care.
We are seeking a medically qualified individual paediatric and neonatal clinical training. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills including the ability to communicate complex information to a wide audience. Candidates should have the capacity to build relationships and collaborate with others internally and externally as the project are joint ventures with other groups (University of Nottingham Engineering and industrial partner). Experience of designing, conducting and analysing clinical research is desirable for this post. You will be expected to register for and undertake an MPhil and will be supported to apply for an external fellowship/funding with a view to completing a DM or PhD. You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend the research portfolio of the team.
This role is available on a fixed term basis until 31/12/2024. Hours of work are full-time (38.5 hours); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 30 hours per week).
