We are looking for a talented and well organised individual to join the Estates and Facilities: Digital Systems and Information Team. Your principal role will be supporting and developing the use of the Estates CAFM system (‘Planon’) with a significant focus on the collation, up-keep and reporting of asset, space, and maintenance data. You will also have an operational overview of all the systems used by the Estates and Facilities Service to deliver and maintain our campus.

You will have experience of IT system development and support in a highly pressurised environment with proven digital skills in business analysis and problem solving leading to the successful configuration and delivery of complex IT packages. Your desire to deliver first-class customer service will enable you to work with multiple stakeholders in maintaining a portfolio of systems and their related data.

The successful applicant will be qualified to HND or Degree level in a computing or other IT related subject or have relevant in-depth experience of an IT support/development environment.

We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).

Estates and Facilities at the University of Huddersfield

This is an exciting time to be joining this award-winning Estates and Facilities Service, having an operational budget of over £13 million per annum. Since 2015, four significant brand-new buildings have been constructed, as well as two major refurbishments – all delivered with BIM for integration within Planon. Furthermore, permission has recently been granted for the first 10,000m2 building of our new National Health Innovation Campus, which will eventually provide over 75,000m2 of exemplary specialist clinical teaching facilities, world leading research facilities, public facing clinics and co-located public and private sector partners. This will bring the total University area to over 200,000 m2.

The Digital Systems and Information Team

The Digital Systems and Information Team manages and supports all the hardware and software used by the Estates and Facilities Service to deliver our first-class campus. In addition to the CAFM system (Planon), these include electronic security (Milestone CCTV, SiPass access control and Xellip intercoms) Trend building management, Kelio time and attendance, Systemslink utility metering, EPOS and payments (catering), Autodesk drawing tools, desktop and laptop PCs and mobile devices. The team also has a close working relationship with the central IT service which provides the University-wide infrastructure and sets the policies for IT provision.

A major expansion of the capabilities and usage of our Planon system is being planned, including increased focus on structured asset and space management leading to more effective maintenance regimes, space planning, and a vision for BIM to become increasingly embedded in the operations of the Estate.
