We currently have an exciting opportunity for a CPRD Real World Data Team Leader to join our Clinical Practice Research Datalink team in the Safety and Surveillance group. This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. Part of the Safety and Surveillance group, The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), jointly sponsored by the Agency and the National Institute for Health Care Research (NIHR), is the UK’s preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research. In addition to supporting high quality observational research, CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.

The CPRD Real World Data Team Leader role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UK Government’s premier data-driven research service. The post holder will possess data expertise and leadership skills to lead on the development of CPRD’s next generation cloud-based data processing, data access, and data analysis systems based on unrivalled access to real world population health data. 

The CPRD Real World Data Team Leader will be responsible for delivering end-to-end Extraction Transform Load (ETL) data processing solutions from data collection through to post release maintenance and support. As well as designing, implementing, and maintaining CPRD’s data processing pipelines; ensuring data assets are of high quality and accompanied with appropriate levels of metadata; and identifying optimisations and new technologies that will allow CPRD services to keep pace with ever increasing volumes of data.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have and an in-depth knowledge of working with structured and semi-structured data and database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle to create relational tables and schemas for loading, storing, and accessing large volumes of data and will have experience of building data processing pipelines that can manage data in high volume, high velocity, and from a variety of sources.

You will also have a proven ability of analysing complex codebases to locate problems and devising solutions or identifying opportunities for improvements and optimisations. As a Team Leader the candidate will be confident to lead a team and can effectively manage team dynamics to drive forward a shared goal. You will take into consideration everyone’s individual needs and create a genuine team spirit while at the same time as a Team player you will work well as part of a team and strive to ensure the team pulls together and is effective.
