The Natural Resources Institute is seeking to employ an Environmental Scientist with a background Resource Accounting in the interface between the environmental sciences and another related fields such as agriculture, engineering, energy management, environmental economics, food systems, climate change mitigation and adaptation. NRI wins and delivers global leading research with an emphasis on impacts in the Global South, but with a growing portfolio in Europe.

This position will strengthen existing interdisciplinary capacity and support current, research, teaching, consultancy, and outreach activities in the Agriculture, Health, and Environment Department (AHED). This post will support collaboration by enhancing the existing skills in environmental assessment, adding value to current research on Food Systems undertaken in NRI. The successful candidate will have experience in the application of methods for the quantification of resource demands or environmental impacts (e.g., Lifecycle assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment, Ecological Footprinting, Techno-economics).

The department lead teaching programmes;  BSc Environmental Science,  MSc Global Environmental Change and MSc Agriculture for Sustainable Development. This post will contribute to delivery of teaching within existing modules (such as Research Methods, Environmental Footprinting) as well as the development of new modules informed by the candidate’s subject expertise.

This post will also contribute to research activities in AHED (as well as across NRI and Faculty). The position will include the preparation of research grant proposals and the delivery of elements of current and future research projects. Given the interdisciplinary remit it is expected the post will contribute to research activities across related subjects within the overarching theme of sustainability. The post will support continued international collaboration in both research and consultancy, involving collaboration in a range of countries and conditions with potentially significant international travel expected.
