Leeds Trinity is a modern ambitious university, proud of its history as an exceptional place for learning and teaching. We are seeking to appoint a Professor of Psychology to contribute to the leadership of the School of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies. Working closely with the Dean and the Head of School, the Professor will lead academic development in research and knowledge exchange across the broad field of psychology, playing a key outward-facing role. We are launching our new MSc Forensic Psychology programme and particularly welcome applicants who have Chartered Psychologist holding full membership of the BPS Division of Forensic Psychology and/or registration with the HCPC as a Forensic Psychologist and will have experience of programme leadership as well as appropriate practitioner experience and links.
The Faculty of Social and Health Sciences makes up one of the University’s three academic faculties and encompasses the schools of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies; Criminology, Investigation and Policing; Nursing and Allied Health; Law and Sport & Life Sciences. We are an enterprising Faculty and are keen to develop our research profile and professional influence within the area of psychology. We currently run research degrees at Masters and Doctoral level which are validated by the University of Leeds, although the University plans to submit for its own research degree awarding powers in the very near future.
We have excellent links with practice and, for example, currently deliver the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship and Degree Holder Entry programmes for West Yorkshire Police and the MSc in Applied Custodial Leadership to newly appointed Prison Officers as part of the Unlocked Graduates Scheme. A key element of this role will be to build upon these relationships and seek out new opportunities for development with external organisations and agencies with a view to enrich our academic expertise and create knowledge through research.
The appointee will be an established academic with practice experience and have a passion for quality and innovation in their research and teaching. They will provide both academic leadership and mentorship to colleagues and have experience of grant capture, curriculum innovation and external engagement. This post offers the right candidate an exciting opportunity to support the Dean and the Head of Psychology to develop the School of Psychology in terms of research, knowledge exchange, innovation in the curriculum and external profile.
