The National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) at Bournemouth University is the leading centre for teaching production and research in computer animation and digital effects. We are the holders of the Queen's Anniversary Prize for 'World Class' teaching in animation and VFX and have a long list of award-winning alumni with BAFTAs and Oscars for their contributions. The NCCA is based in the Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, which is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has a global reputation for combining research and teaching practice.  Students within the department have access to our industry-standard facilities including a 200msq soundstage studio, green screen studio, virtual production facilities and computer labs equipped with professional production software.

As a Lighting and Look Development artist you will be familiar with the range of practices and workflows for production, including design solutions, texturing, material and shading networks, lighting shot production and rendering of virtual objects, characters and environments for seamless integration of virtual and real assets and/or other creative visions.

Whilst previous teaching or training experience is desirable, it is more important to be enthusiastic about student-centered learning experience. You will contribute to education delivery, including programme leadership roles as required, across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  You will also make a significant contribution to employability and help to further enhance the department’s professional networks.

As one of our employee benefits, we are committed to personal and professional development of staff and you will be supported to find a route into doctoral study through the development of your own technical, artistic and academic interests. You will benefit from flexible working arrangements, family friendly hours along with a generous holiday allowance and pension scheme.

We welcome applicants with industry expertise in this specialist discipline from a range of computer graphics and production fields. Please include a link to a showreel or online portfolio of your best work with your application.
