Project Title: Studying the Origins of Human Planning in Extended Reality Environments
The Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development (CBCD) in London is offering an exciting 3-year fully funded PhD position in Developmental Neuroscience. The CBCD is a world-leading international research centre exploring the links between brain and behavioural development (https://cbcd.bbk.ac.uk/). This project will use the newly developed Toddlerlab: a dedicated 5-storey research facility developed for studying toddler and preschool development in naturalistic environments. The facility includes specialist labs such as the Home lab, the Preschool lab, and the CAVE virtual reality lab, all fitted with motion capture, head-mounded eye-tracking and wearable EEG and fNIRS.
The project will involve a unique, state-of-the-art integration of virtual-reality, behavioural, and fNIRS or EEG neuroimaging methods to explore the behavioural, neural, and computational mechanisms underlying the development of action planning in toddlers and pre-schoolers. The project will be supervised by Dr Ori Ossmy (www.oriossmy.com). This project is funded by the Leverhulme Trust.
