The University of Central Lancashire has made a major investment in engineering research, teaching and knowledge transfer with industry through the development of a new Engineering Innovation Centre at the Preston campus. This investment will exploit our location at the centre of one of the most important engineering/manufacturing areas in the UK and establish UCLan as a leading university for developing engineering innovation with industry.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to support the School in delivering its commitments to teaching, research and income generation in the general area of Quantity Surveying. The post holders will support the future operation and enhancement of the undergraduate and postgraduate Quantity Surveying programmes and contribute to the teaching of our Quantity Surveying related programmes – including supervision of level 6 and 7 projects and postgraduate research students.
The successful applicant will have a successful track record of research or industrial experience in Quantity Surveying and an ability to develop research activity. Particular specialisms of interest to the School would include (but are not limited to): Measurement, Cost Planning, Building Economics, and Construction Contract Law. A BSc and/or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or similar construction related subject) and membership of a relevant professional institution (or working towards membership) are essential requirements for this position. A good honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, a relevant Masters qualification and PhD in a relevant area are essential.
Utilising excellent communication skills, the successful applicants will have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be able to develop links and opportunities with industrial partners. The School of Engineering has further been successful in the setting up and running of Construction and Civil Engineering courses overseas, requiring the successful applicants to have the ability and willingness to work overseas for short periods.
