Hybrid working – Whilst we are happy to consider remote/hybrid working, our team is based on the Streatham Campus in Exeter, and we really feel visiting and spending time as a team will be valuable to being fully engaged with the team.

This Solutions Architect role will be responsible for delivering innovative digital solutions using a cloud-first approach with modern technologies to enable our users to achieve their goals.

This will be quite a unique “hands on” role so someone who enjoys getting stuck in and helping build digital solutions as well as design them would be perfect. We really want someone who is going to bring in some fresh thinking and expertise into our growing team!

What you’ll be doing…

  • Work with the Digital team to develop architectural blueprints, roadmaps, policies, principles, standards, patterns and other artefacts to support and develop the Enterprise Architecture capability
  • Working with a range of stakeholders across the University of Exeter and delivery partners sharing knowledge, decisions, patterns and lessons learnt to improve productivity and enhance capabilities.
  • Working in the Digital platform we are cloud centric - so this varies from a standard solutions architect role where you may be used to more traditional methodologies. In this regard some of the key accountabilities revolve around the cloud (one of the big 3: AWS, Azure, GCP), research and keeping up to date with the latest trends, services and tech. In the cloud, things tend to move more rapidly, so understanding all the latest services and how to benefit from them is key to delivering the best solutions

Just some of the benefits that come with this role include:

  • 33 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Full university USS pension scheme – Over 21% employer contributions!
  • Access to the latest technologies and platforms
  • Excellent personal and professional development opportunities
  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible working
  • Loads of discounts at leading retailers!
  • Onsite gyms on all of our campuses and a cycle to work scheme
  • Sector leading policies around maternity, adoption and shared parental leave
  • Stunning campus locations in Exeter and Cornwall

We’re really looking for…

  • Strong experience and skills in Solutions Architecture!
  • Someone who is happy being hands on and getting involved with day to day Software Development
  • Strong cloud experience
  • Recent Devops experience would be ideal
  • Someone who is fired up to join our new digital team and help us carve out our new digital capability from scratch!
  • Someone who is not afraid to bring new ideas to table and who wants to make a massive positive impact on the future of education

Whilst this role is preferably a full time post we will consider applicants looking for part time.
