We are currently looking for an experienced Higher Scientist (Bioinformatician) to join our Scientific Research and Innovation group. Within a week of working here, your day could look like this: carrying out bioinformatics analyses, to support the core functions of the section and projects central to SR&I business; writing and maintain bioinformatics scripts, software, and pipelines. Utilising version control project tracking and team collaboration tools; contributing to, and leading, written reports for submission to clients, relevant journals, and governmental agencies; liaising with SR&I scientists and maintain collaborations withing existing projects.
The successful candidate will be able to: read, write and understand code in R and either Perl or Python; work effectively in a Unix environment, including shell scripting, administration, and software installation and in a high-performance and Cloud (Google Cloud) computing environments, and and familiarity with submission of interactive and batch jobs; and to interpret and write bioinformatics and statistical reports and data, as well as having an understanding of genetics, next-generation sequencing technology and data formats.
In addition, you will have experience in building bioinformatic workflows and pipelines.
