The role
The School of Humanities is seeking to recruit a Centre Manager for the newly funded Centre for the Study of Hong Kong History. Led by Prof Robert Bickers, Dr Vivian Kong, and Prof Ray Yep, the Centre will develop into a flagship research centre within the University and within the field of Hong Kong/China studies in the UK and internationally.
What will you be doing?
The role of the Centre Manager is to support the full range of activities of the Hong Kong History Centre. In particular, the post-holder will lead planning and policy development in respect of all matters relating to the activities of the Centre, including a substantial programme of historical research, engagement, outreach, and training. Working with partners in the UK and internationally, communications, profile-raising, policy and public engagement will be key.
You should apply if
You should apply if you have substantial experience in Research Management or Research Communication, in particular leading policy and planning initiatives. You should have specialist knowledge of establishing new research activities and management structures within Higher Education and of responding to funder requirements. Fluency in Cantonese and advanced reading knowledge of Chinese may be an advantage.
