About the team

The team is led Professor Kate Sang as the Centre Director, alongside The successful candidate will be part of a wider team of 5 PDRAs, a project manager, project support officer and a finance manager.

Detailed Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher to engage in participatory action research, to inform working practices across the participating organisations. The role will involve a combination of activities to support projects across the Centre for Research on Employment, Work and the Professions (CREWs) working with a variety of funded projects.

The successful candidate will hold or expect to obtain a PhD in sociology, social policy, psychology, geography or a business related discipline. Strong grounding in empirical research (particularly quantitative) demonstrated by published (or accepted) research papers in academic journals, with evaluation judged relative to career stage and a knowledge of the broadly defined subject area would be of benefit.

Key duties and responsibilities

We are seeking to appoint 1 full time post doctoral research associate;

  • To undertake data collection (quantitative) to understand the barriers and facilitators to equity across the career life cycle for those working in the research and innovation system.
  • To work with stakeholder engagement groups and research participants (e.g. surveys) to co-design workplace interventions to improve the working lives of researchers and innovators.
  • To work with key stakeholders and project teams to implement, refine and evaluate workplace interventions to improve the working lives of researchers and innovators
  • To analyse existing quantitative data sets
  • To produce research outputs including blogs, conference papers, journal papers.
  • To have a commitment to the dissemination of research findings to a wide audience including policy makers, academics, employers and the general public

To carry out the research project to a high standard;

  • Meeting planned milestones and deliverables.
  • Reporting progress regularly to supervisors, both verbally and in written reports
  • Keeping clear written records of work done, and storing data in accessible formats according to a system agreed with the project supervisor.
  • To collaborate with partners within the project and others as appropriate

Education, qualifications and experience

The successful candidate should hold a social sciences PhD or soon expected to complete one and the ability to demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity in the workplace.
