About the role
This is an opportunity to join an outstanding department that has played a pioneering role in the development of Creative Writing as a university discipline in the UK, focusing on the teaching of writing for children and young people primarily at postgraduate level, with some undergraduate teaching.
The School of Writing, Publishing & the Humanities recognises creative work as a form of research and sees teaching and practice-based research as mutually supporting activities. Our MA courses have an outstanding record of encouraging and supporting students towards publication, whilst also contextualising the process. The MA in Writing for Young People is consistently oversubscribed, and we have recently introduced an online version of the course as a way of addressing the. We also offer a complementary MA in Children’s Publishing, and there will be opportunities to contribute to the development of both courses.
About you (requirements)
You will have a reputation as a published author, with wide-ranging interests in writing for young people: current trends, developments, and approaches. You will also have experience of supporting others in the creation of their own work, ideally in higher education, and a commitment to developing excellent practice in learning and teaching.

Our research centres focus on the creative industries and humanities.
Our purpose is to challenge our students and staff to realise their talent and thrive, for their own benefit and for the wider good. By doing this we will think and make the world better.
