Job Summary
The Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for a Research Associate to join a project funded by UKRI via the Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC). The project involves a model-based study for the design and operation of adsorption-based Direct Air Capture (DAC) units. By considering the UK as case study, the project aims at producing nationwide performance maps of the operation and techno-economic assessment for DAC deployment. A key element in the design of the DAC units will be their operability under variable ambient conditions and their integration within industrial clusters in the UK.
Duties and responsibilities
Your main responsibility will be to develop and deploy a computer-aided framework for the design of an adsorption-based DAC unit that operates within an industrial cluster. You will engage with key UK industrial cluster representatives and stakeholders aiming to enable cost-effective deployment of DAC in the UK.
Essential requirements
You will have: (1) a proven experience in the development of advanced model-based tools for process design and/or (2) a proven world-class research track record in energy systems engineering, as evidenced by first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
