We are a leading CE department in the UK, focussed on attracting diverse and ambitious students who, through inclusive, passionate, innovative, research-led and industry-supported teaching, graduate as highly sought-after engineers and leaders of the future. Our CE Department is part of the Faculty of Engineering, one of five faculties at the University of Nottingham, itself one of the 24 UK Russell Group research-intensive universities.

Following a comprehensive review of our course portfolio and resultant growth, we are pleased to announce that we have a vacancy available for a new full-time Professor. The successful applicant will join our leading CE department and work alongside a team of around thirty academic staff, who are conducting world-class research and responsible for educating over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Further information about our department and faculty can be found online at www.nottingham.ac.uk/ce and www.nottingham.ac.uk/engineering, respectively.

We are seeking a highly ambitious candidate with a leading international research profile who has the passion to continue their world leading independent research career in their field of expertise and who are also committed to teaching and delivering at a high level.  You will be able to clearly demonstrate both practical experience and knowledge across a breadth of civil engineering topics and will have the ability to teach a range of our modules offered to 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students. You will also be able to contribute to the development and delivery of advanced (final year undergraduate and MSc) technical modules in transportation infrastructure engineering, construction materials and advanced constitutive modelling.

You should demonstrate the potential to continue to undertake original research with a clear alignment to the Transportation Engineering Research Group www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/groups/ntec. You will have extensive knowledge and ongoing research in the area of pavement infrastructure, intelligent transportation technologies, renewable and sustainable construction materials, an advanced material and mechanics-based modelling with outstanding international collaborations.

As part of the role, you will apply for, and strongly support colleagues applying for, external funding to enable the development of new and original research.  You will have a PhD in Civil Engineering, or related disciplines, along with extensive post-doctoral research experience and internationally leading publications. Excellent communication, motivational and organisational skills are also essential.

This post is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.

It is envisaged that interviews will be scheduled in April.
