The Jacobson Fund, named in honour of Mr Alex Jacobson, supports scholarships for postgraduates studying public or private international law at St Catharine’s College and the University of Cambridge.
Scholarships are awarded for academic excellence and preference is given to a postgraduate admitted to read for a doctoral degree.
Applications are now open for the Jacobson Scholarship. Deadline: 12 noon, 31 March 2023.
The scholarship, which is currently in the region of £25,000 per annum for a single doctoral scholar, would be renewable for two years on evidence of satisfactory progress. In the absence of suitable doctoral candidates, a scholarship in the region of £15,000 may instead be awarded to a candidate reading for the LLM (Master of Law) programme. In the case of those reading for the LLM, Jacobson scholars are expected to offer at least three papers from those listed under ‘international law’ (for a list of current subject papers and designations, https://www.llm.law.cam.ac.uk/about-the-cambridge-llm-programme/subject-papers-and-designations.html).
The value of any scholarship awarded will be reduced appropriately to take account of any payment from other sources, and candidates are expected to apply for state studentships or other research awards for which they may be eligible. Preference will be given to those who designate St Catharine’s College first on their university application. Please note that a separate application to the University of Cambridge for admission to doctoral or other graduate study must be made before applying for this scholarship. Information about admissions to the several Law courses is available at the Law Faculty website: www.law.cam.ac.uk
