About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Central Print/Copy Shop Technician to provide all print related support within the university.

Essential requirements for this post include a high level of customer service skills, an ability to prioritise a varied workload and to meet given deadlines.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To assist in maintaining a fleet of over 200 Multi-Function Devices (MFD'S) across all QMUL sites.
  • To ensure that all CopyShop requests are completed within stipulated time
  • To have the ability to use heavy duty Canon Printers and associated print devices
  • To be able to do binding, cuttings, posters, etc and use CopyShop ticketing system
  • To ensure that all MFD'S are always operational 
  • To inspect allocated MFD devices daily and maintain a log of inspection
  • To ensure consumables for the fleet (paper stock, toner replacement) are maintained by regular inspection or provided on demand
  • To accurately record all consumables used by departments to control stock levels
  • The ordering of consumables from suppliers when necessary
  • The booking of an engineer if an issue occurs with an MFD
  • To review work tickets from IT Helpdesk and manage requests, escalating unresolved issues to your line manager
  • Demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with staff, students, and visitors to QMUL
  • To be able to give general advice and assistance to staff, students, and visitors to QMUL on the operation of a MFD device  
  • To support and promote the Central Print Service and the CopyShop (in-house print service) service 
  • To undertake any ad hoc duties as requested by the CopyShop Manager
  • To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the policies and procedures of the University

The starting salary will be Grade 2, £24,761 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
