The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a UK-registered Physiotherapist for an exciting academic research role to participate in the Professor Helen Dawes research team to develop the intervention delivery and the training for the stroke teams and to then deliver the intervention to stroke survivors in the ESD pathway.

This SBRI-funded post is available immediately until 31/01/2024.

The successful applicant will work as a Physiotherapist to support stroke survivors. In this project, we set out to adapt and evaluate an established remote, VR rehabilitation hardware/software tool EvolveRehab for training upper limb function in people early after Stroke with functional arm and hand impairments, and thus enable Stroke survivors to engage with more individualised progressive prescribed therapy in their home setting to increase therapy time with minimal input from clinical teams, and improve outcomes for similar costs. 

The post will include; working flexibly with the team, helping in the design of the intervention, meeting participants at their homes, NHS sites visit and working closely with the industry partner. 

About you

To undertake research as appropriate to the field of study, the successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals, identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

The postholder will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in physiotherapy and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as a team leader as required.
