We are seeking experienced individuals to join our senior leadership team in the Institute of Science and Environment. You will contribute to programme delivery, take responsibility for leading programme teams, and for the day-to-day operational management of the Institute’s portfolio such that we achieve the best possible student outcomes and ensure all students have access to a high-quality learning experience.
You will have a proven record of programme development and leadership combined with a strong academic track record in a discipline relevant to the Institute. You will be committed to your own professional development and that of others, able to inspire and motivate teams to meet targets and encourage a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement to deliver the University and Institute’s strategic plans.
The Institute is split across two campuses, Ambleside and Carlisle, to suit the academic portfolio and delivery needs of our programmes.

The Institute of Science and Environment is one of five Institutes within the University. With a varied portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate and apprenticeship provision and growing postgraduate research community, it is a busy and vibrant Institute. Our portfolio at Carlisle campus comprises the following programmes; Biomedical Science, Forensic Science, Environmental Science and Zoology. Additionally, we deliver the Institute’s Integrated Foundation year from the campus.
Institute of Science and Environment (Ambleside campus)
Our portfolio at Ambleside campus comprises the following programmes; Outdoor Leadership, Outdoor Education, Outdoor Adventure & Environmental Studies, Outdoor and Experiential Learning, Geography, Forestry and a range of Conservation programmes. The Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas and the National School of Forestry are also based at the campus.
