Location: Bristol
Job reference: R0000467
The Office for Students is the independent regulator of higher education in England. We aim to ensure that every student, whatever their background, has a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers.
We currently have an opportunity within the Participation, Access and Equality Directorate (PACE), where our focus is on improving equality of opportunity in higher education. This specialist role will be assigned to our Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team, but you may be asked to be involved in the delivery of activities across PACE and the OfS.
Join us and you’ll use your good understanding of current research, data, and legislation, in areas relating to EDI especially the Equality Act 2010 and the public sector equality duty in a higher education and regulatory context. Your research and analytical skills will allow you to communicate complex details clearly and credibly. You will use these skills to prepare a range of evidence-based formal and informal documents that will be used to inform decision making and position our policies.
Negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders to ensure objectives are delivered, we’ll also expect you to work collaboratively and creatively with your colleagues to resolve a wide range of competing demands.
You’ll collaborate with your colleagues to deliver projects on the EDI priorities of the organisation , and use your project management skills to plan and manage a range of projects, activities and budgets. Developing and evaluating new policies, processes and outputs and making appropriate recommendations for improvement will be another of your key responsibilities.
The OfS regulates the higher education sector on behalf of all students. We value diversity and the wealth of perspectives, experience and ideas that it brings to our work, and we strive to embed equality of opportunity in everything we do.
We recruit based on fair and open competition and welcome applications from candidates regardless of age, disability, race and ethnicity, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation and socio-economic background.
Flexibility is important to the OfS, as we recognise that such flexibility can enable people to work more effectively. A set of organisation-wide principles shape our approach to flexible and hybrid working, which our teams then use as guidance on how they deliver their business goals. To attract the widest possible field of qualified applicants, flexible working, for example job share and part time working, apply to this role.
