In close collaboration with the Managing Director, the Finance Director manages the financial operations of a multi-national, not-for-profit education organization, which include activity in the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Spain, Czech Republic, and the United States. Specifically, the Finance Director, leads all aspects of accounting, accounts payables, accounts receivables, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, banking, foreign currency management and regulatory compliance, including the annual audit and statutory filings. The Finance Director reports directly to the EUSA Board of Directors.

The Finance Director manages all administrative and human resources functions, with support from third party (in-country) HR and employment professionals. Specifically, they direct all hiring, onboarding, off boarding, absence management, benefits management and drafting and maintaining key employment policies and contracts.

Partnering with the Managing Director and Finance Committee, the Finance Director oversees and regularly reports on annual and program specific budgets, including leading efforts on program pricing. They will be responsible for complex financial and cash flow modeling and scenario analysis to aid in strategic decision making with respect to new and existing programs.

The Finance Director will implement and continually test systems and controls to ensure proper use of funds and plays a lead role liaising with all its site.

The Finance Director directly supervises a Finance Manager with responsibility to continuously train, delegate and as needed properly review work. 

Additional Tasks:

  • Control and maintain all accounting records (e.g., cash book, sales ledger, purchase ledger, general ledger, nominal ledger) using a sophisticated multicurrency accounting package (Advanced Exchequer).
  • Process financial transactions, including invoices, expense reports, deposits, BACS payments and purchase orders, and track information using financial databases
  • Prepare monthly reports and reconciliations in line with month end close deadlines
  • Produce monthly management accounts and provide insight and analysis on budget to actual variances
  • Manage company credit card accounts and staff expenses
  • Raise sales invoices and perform the credit control function with clients
  • Manage supplier payments and queries
  • Instruct and liaise with outsourced payroll and pension providers on staff salaries, benefits, and payroll taxes
  • Responsible for the administration of HR processes including contracts, MIS, hiring, Right to Work checks

Profile and Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Chartered accountant
  • 5+ years post qualified experience
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of finance and operations processes across a multinational business
  • Ability to summarize complex financial dataStrong business acumen
  • Experienced managing or a demonstrated strong understanding of UK and EU employment and HR best practices
  • Previous experience of managing a team and being hands on in all finance functions
  • Understanding of US and UK higher education is desirable
  • Ability to set and monitor priorities to meet deadlines, and with ability to champion innovation and act with urgency in service to EUSA’s vision and mission
