An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Health and Safety Adviser to join our expanding central team as we seek to deliver our ambitious strategic health and safety plan and objectives.
Your role will be to assist the Director of Health & Safety and the Health & Safety Managers to provide a comprehensive health and safety support service to the University. This will involve providing guidance and assistance to academic and professional service departments to ensure compliance with all aspects of health and safety legislation across the University campus and its residences.
In addition to general health and safety functions, you will also be working closely with the University’s network of Departmental Laser Safety Officers to embed relevant non-ionising radiation related management systems and provide specialist support and guidance to the role holders as and when required.
As a well-rounded, highly motivated health & safety professional, you will have exceptional communication skills and an ability to deal with difficult situations and challenges with a high level of tact and diplomacy.
You will be a Graduate member of IOSH or have achieved an equivalent status within a recognised occupational health and safety professional body, and have substantial experience of working in a health and safety role and delivering excellent outcomes in a complex and fast-moving organisation.
You will be self-reliant and results oriented with strong attention to detail. You will be comfortable and experienced in the development and delivery of health and safety related training and audits across a wide range of topic areas, as this will be a major aspect of this role.
We are committed to enabling our employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
