Research Assistant (NATURANCE Project Co-ordinator)

Salary from £31,960 to £36,705 per annum with potential to progress to £39,432 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years

This role has been created to support the work in a newly funded Horizon Europe project on nature-based solutions and insurance (NATURANCE) to examine technical, financial, and operational feasibility and performance of solutions that are built upon and combine disaster risk financing & investments with nature-based solutions. The post holder will coordinate and plan for delivery of the project’s milestones and deliverables in close exchange with the PI of the project and other partner organisations within the project consortium. This includes the organisation of a series of multi-sectoral workshops with national and international academic and non-academic partners.

Candidates should have:

  • a Master’s degree or equivalent in Geography, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable work experience in a university environment, or equivalent demonstrable project management experience of a policy-oriented research activity.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to monitor and streamline research project components.
  • Knowledge on disaster risk finance and investment, with a strong interest in ecology and nature-based solutions
  • A good understanding of the private insurance sector and/or other public and private risk transfer mechanisms would be desirable.
