It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where the successful candidate can work from home and the office. However, as this role is aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs.

The role

The post holder will investigate the design and development of a cooperation framework to represent, reason about, and compose the capabilities of autonomous agents that operate under the same rules and norms. The aim is to enhance resilience of autonomous systems by combining the capabilities of their constituent agents. 

The post holder will also have an opportunity to work closely with other academics, post-doctoral researchers and PhD students, collaborating on related research projects where appropriate, and promoting good software engineering research and practice within the faculty.

The post holder will be expected to write conference papers and journal articles, and present at conferences, workshops and seminars to share research findings.

Skills and experience

  • A PhD degree in computing, software engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: formal modelling and analysis, adaptive systems, or automated software engineering.
  • Experience in at least one programming language.
  • Experience working with IoT devices, embedded systems or drones, is desirable.
