The role
You will join the vibrant interdisciplinary research environment in the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU) on a collaborative project with Biogen Inc to prioritize drug targets for neurological diseases.
You will work on the application of Mendelian randomization (MR) and genetic colocalization to drug target prioritization. The project will use the MR-Base (www.mrbase.org) platform, IEU OpenGWAS database (gwas.mrcieu.ac.uk) and EpiGraphDB (www.epigraphdb.org) platform developed within the IEU.
You will benefit from the collaborative multi-disciplinary research environment of the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU) within Bristol Medical School, with access to a range of training and career development opportunities.
What will you be doing?
You will implement MR and colocalization approaches using these platforms, applying these to specific drug targets and systematic target screening.
You will develop R packages to support this type of systematic analysis and develop a pipeline for MR, colocalization and mediation analysis using molecular traits.
Collaboration with Biogen is a central component of the role, and the SRA will be involved in regular meetings with the Biogen team.
