About the role
We wish to appoint a Research Laboratories Manager, working two days a week (Mondays and Fridays) on a job share basis to join the School of Biological & Behavioral Sciences (SBBS), a large, dynamic and expanding School within the Faculty of Science and Engineering with approximately 1800 students and 100 academic staff members, who carry out excellent education, research and public engagement activities, with support from 32 administrative staff and 22 technical staff.
The purpose of this role is to be responsible for operation and effective day-to-day management and technical support for the research and teaching activities in labs across all departments, including the Containment level 3 facility in the School. Furthermore, a substantial part of the role is Health & Safety management, as the post-holder will act as deputy H&S coordinator for the School.
The post is part of the Technical Services career family at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), which supports functions across multiple sites and provides the infrastructure and support for all our research, teaching and learning activities.
About You
You should be educated to degree level or equivalent work experience, with experience in lab management and Health & Safety management in a Higher Education setting, in particular relating to CL3 lab environments.

The post is based on Mile End Campus. It is a part-time position, working Mondays and Fridays only on a job share basis. The post is fixed-term until 28/02/2025 and the salary will be Grade 5, £44,931 per annum pro rata, inclusive of London Allowance.
