Fixed term contract for 2 years, 1.0 FTE.
The Accounting Group are recruiting for a ‘WBS Houlden Fellow’ post for the next academic year (2023/23). The position is fixed-term for a period of 24 months. Each Houlden Fellow will be a full member of the Accounting group within the School.
Members of the Group undertake research in several fields. Currently, there is a strong cluster of researchers who examine issues related to capital markets, including auditing, corporate governance and securities analysts. A smaller cluster focuses on research of accounting as a social and organisational phenomenon. We apply and advance a variety of methods, both qualitative and quantitative. Uniting this diversity is a common research philosophy that focuses on building capacity from ‘the ground up’: recruiting high quality and enthusiastic junior staff and supporting these individuals to achieve excellence in research and in teaching and then continue to contribute to the Group at a more senior level.
The post holder should have experience in research in any area of accounting research. The post holder will undertake research, and more broadly support the work of the School to develop and enhance its reputation, both internally and externally. Such support will involve some teaching duties, and integration into one of the academic subject groups within WBS.
The postholder will divide their time between three areas of activity: (1) progressing their own research agenda; (2) supporting current WBS research activity and (3) gaining valuable teaching experience. All Houlden Fellows will benefit from the mentoring of a Professorial colleague, to help them develop their academic careers, over the two-year period and have their own budget for research and travel.
Preference may be given to candidates that will complement the existing strengths in the School; and bridge between existing areas of expertise in the School.
