The Wolverhampton School of Sciences offers high quality learning and teaching to a diverse community of students on a range of undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. We deliver a successful portfolio of courses accredited by major professional bodies including the RSC for Chemistry, the CSFS for Forensics and the RSB for our Biology courses. Our teaching and research is supported by excellent facilities including: NMR, GC-MS, ICP, LC-MS, XRF and XRD (powder).

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry to join our vibrant School. This position is temporary until 31.7.25.

You will need to demonstrate a depth and strength of knowledge to develop and deliver innovative learning and teaching on our Chemistry, Forensics and Pharmaceutical Science programmes, as well as contribute to research and knowledge exchange. You will contribute also to the development and delivery of new undergraduate programmes in Chemistry and more broadly across the School or Faculty.

You must have a good first degree in Chemistry or a related discipline and have either completed a PhD in Organic Chemistry or be able to demonstrate significant experience in an industrial or commercial R&D environment. You should have a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. FHEA or PGCert) or be willing to undertake such a qualification. Experience in delivering teaching in a blended learning environment would be a benefit.

You must evidence the delivery of research outcomes that will contribute to the REF or KEF (Research Excellence or Knowledge Exchange Framework respectively); evidence of independent research in an area that complements current activity, with the capability of attracting support, or demonstrate plans to engage with one or more of the successful research areas that form part of the School’s research portfolio.  Good communication and organisational skills are essential attributes.
