We are seeking a Senior Researcher and Programme Leader to work with the Director of the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) to establish a new programme of novel and world leading research in the field of Resilience and International Development.
Through this programme, the successful applicant will establish a portfolio of externally funded projects and build a research group, attracting significant research income. You will also contribute to the strategy for the ECI, and be responsible for fostering partnerships with external stakeholders to meet the ECI’s objectives in this area of research. You will create and maintain excellent working relationships with academics inside and outside the University of Oxford, acting as an ambassador for ECI. You will also be a leading expert in the field of Resilience and International Development and will be primarily responsible for developing a programme of externally-funded research projects characterised by world-leading research and establishing a research team. During this initial period of appointment, you will build and develop the research group, contributing to the ECI’s overarching strategic vision and managing research staff involved in delivery of the programme.
You must hold a relevant PhD/DPhil and a level of experience commensurate to the relevant career stage with significant post qualification research experience. An established reputation as an authority in the field, strong academic publication record, and familiarity with existing literature and research are essential. You will be able to articulate a credible vision for the development of a novel research programme. You will show evidence of effective teamwork in interdisciplinary research contexts and collaborations and of evidence of effective, high-impact engagement with stakeholders in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. A demonstrated ability to secure significant research funding through a track record of successful grant applications is essential.
