Development Office, University Offices, Wellington Square and the Faculty of Law, but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Europe’s most successful fundraising team in higher education. The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Head of Development - Law. This is a specialist role.

Based in the Faculty of Law, this role will report to the Director of Development – Strategic Programmes in the Oxford University Development Office. The postholder will raise funding for priorities including endowment of statutory and associate professorships, supporting student scholarships, research, access and outreach, and key capital projects.

The Development Office in the Faculty of Law has deep and well-established links with a significant number of major law firms in the U.K. and abroad, working together on funding career opportunities and other support for the Faculty.

They also have an engaged alumni community, who have either studied law at Oxford, or now work in the field. Alumni receive regular updates on news and events, and an alumni regular giving campaign was established in 2021 and will run again in June this year.

There is a well-established programme of stewardship for donors. Alongside the University’s major benefactor circles, Law also has two bespoke donor circles (Deans and GOLDS), as well as a Development board, and a regular calendar of reporting and donor engagement.

Reporting to the Director of Development – Strategic Programmes in the University of Oxford Development Office, the post holder will manage the cultivation and solicitation efforts involving a portfolio of donors and potential donors. They will build and manage relationships for themselves and others at the University with this group of individuals, acting as liaison between the staff of the Development Office, the Faculty of Law, senior University officers, academics and other members of the collegiate University. The Head of Development will provide line management for the Development Officer (as outlined above) and leadership of the administrative team in the Law Faculty involved in fundraising and alumni engagement.

To be considered for this role you will need to have significant major gifts fundraising experience, including proven success in personally securing six and/or seven figure gifts in the UK and/or internationally. You will have experience of working with high net worth individuals, as well as experience of devising sophisticated cultivation and solicitation strategies and managing with proven success a portfolio of major gifts prospects. This role also needs experience of line management too.

Closing date for applications: 12:00 noon on Friday 17th February

Interviews: Monday 27th February, in person in central Oxford
