The School of Computing Science is looking for MSc Project Supervisors to contribute to an excellent student experience by contributing, via remote or in-person delivery, to teaching, assessment and administration processes within the School of Computing Science, with a principal focus on Masters' project supervision.
Positions are available for a fixed duration on a flexible part or full-time basis. You will provide dedicated and focussed support to the School as Project Supervisor for Information Technology and/or Software Development (MSc IT+) students at MSc level. This will include an induction period which will include on-boarding before the initiation of the projects.
The Glasgow University MSc IT+ programme is a conversion course for graduates that do not currently have a degree in computer science but are looking to transition to a career in the IT industry, or require additional IT skills to have to pursue their career in their current specialisation. After the student has completed 9 months of all the relevant IT+ Masters academic tuition and exams, the student is given three months to run a software development project, from inception to implementation.
The role of the Msc IT+ supervisor is to ensure that the student chooses an acceptable and worthy project and provide support throughout the process through regular supervisory meetings and feedback, to make sure the student is on track to produce a set of high quality deliverables, and mark the final submission from the student. This role is suited to those with academic teaching and supervision experience, and is also suitable for candidates that have significant Industry IT experience , especially around the software development life cycle and are looking to gain experience in the academic world.
Informal enquiries about the role are welcomed, and should be addressed to Dr Mark McGill (Mark.McGill@glasgow.ac.uk) in the first instance.
