Equality and Diversity
The University of Oxford is committed to fostering an inclusive culture that promotes equality, values diversity, and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its staff and students are respected. We recognise that the broad range of experiences that a diverse staff and student body brings strengthens our research and enhances our teaching, and that in order for Oxford to remain a world-leading institution we must continue to provide a diverse, inclusive, fair and open environment that allows everyone to grow and flourish. As such, we particularly welcome applications from female and black and minority ethnic candidates, and also from early career researchers.
We wish to appoint a candidate whose research interests are centred in Chemical Biology, within the wider context of Organic Chemistry. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a field relevant to these subjects, and have a very strong track record, or show outstanding promise, in independent research. They should be able to demonstrate their research vision and the ability to attract research funding from appropriate sources. If already in an academic position, they should provide evidence of the ability to lead a group of researchers at different career stages. They should be able to demonstrate excellence (or the potential for excellence) in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in the administration of the subject and in the wider life of the College.
About the role
The position of Associate Professor is suitable for Early Career Researcher applicants, including those that have not previously held a permanent academic position. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and Pembroke College, St Aldate’s, Oxford, OX1 1DW. The combined University and College salary will be according to experience on a scale from £50,300 - £67,541 p.a. Benefits of the Tutorial Fellowship at Pembroke College include Governing Body membership, a housing allowance of £10,000 per annum, a research allowance of £2,300 p.a., access to a housing loan and health care schemes, a teaching room in college, and full college dining rights.
