A bit about you... 

You will enjoy providing project finance and system support to environmental scientists, enabling them to deliver our scientific projects.  

You will enjoy a wide range of activities with plenty of variation and challenges. You may be looking to springboard into more senior project accounting, project management or process/system support roles, for which we can provide training support including the Government Apprenticeship Scheme. 

Main Responsibilities 

Following extensive training, you will work with scientific project managers to assist project managers in the set up, review, reporting and closure of their projects whilst also assisting project accountants in the processing of workflow approvals and regular review of project budgets 

You will also: 

   a. making project forecast revisions on behalf of project managers 

   b. using MS Planner Board, or similar, to monitor key process steps on portfolio of projects 

   c. assisting project managers in the appropriate use of systems, reports and budgeting tools 

Here are some essential skills we are looking for: 

  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work and effectively manage your time. 

  • Proficient level of numeracy and understanding of the importance of budgetary control.  

  • Good knowledge / experience of using finance systems. 

  • Good knowledge and proficient use of Excel. 

  • Good team worker, able to work collaboratively with the project finance support team and science project managers. 

  • Ability to learn quickly and become familiar with the use of new systems and processes 

We would be delighted if you also had the following skills/experience: 

  • Part (or fully) qualified management/project accountant 

  • Educated to degree level 

  • Experience with Workday business system
