About us
UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology was established on 1st August 2013 and is formally comprised of two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU), which are UKCRC registered trials units. The Institute is a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis, and epidemiological studies, across a range of diseases. Key areas of focus for the Institute are continuing to deliver innovations in trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients and training and developing the next generation of trialists. The ICTM education team look after the institute’s taught and research programmes.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to undertake the role for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
About the role
As the successful candidate you will be a key member of the Institute’s Education Team, with significant responsibility for the education programme. You will work with colleagues to manage the programme and also to develop and expand it as opportunities arise. You will be committed to updating your knowledge of education and training methods and of clinical trials. You will provide support and mentorship for students enrolled on the Institute’s education programmes. In carrying out the above duties, you will be expected to adhere to UCL policies including Financial Regulations. Any new appointee would also have the responsibility to carry out their duties in a resource efficient way and actively support UCL’s Sustainability Strategy, policies and objectives within the remit of their role.
About you
As the successful candidate you will have sound experience of teaching or training in fields related to clinical trials or life sciences preferably within Higher Education and/or a research-intensive environment. You will be experienced in the development and delivery of original innovative educational material including digital education, the use of virtual learning environments and using multi-media tools.
You will be enthusiastic about education and training, while able to work collaboratively and flexibly within, and across, teams within ICTM and the wider faculty.
You will have a postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to clinical trials/methodology, for example life sciences or statistics, or a postgraduate qualification in another discipline. A postgraduate certificate in education and /or accreditation in teaching would be an advantage.
