An opportunity has arisen for a Semi-Skilled Building Maintenance Operative based on the Streatham Campus. This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to join a small team of operatives supplying a high level of service. This new full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Handy Person Team Leader, you will be a member of the operational team working alongside other maintenance operatives in the Electrical & Mechanical/Building & Structural Services. Estate Services is responsible for the planning, safety, provision, adaptation and maintenance of buildings, grounds and associated services and for the development and maintenance of the University’s estate.
The main responsibilities of the role are with the Mandatory, Statutory and Customer based Planned Maintenance Works across the estate. These works cover areas such as Gutter and Gully Maintenance, Footpath Maintenance, Scaffolding Tower supply and installation and when required carry out other tasks such as weekly Fire Alarm testing, Emergency Light testing, Fire Equipment inspection and when require, in house and task based training. The operative will be working within our Grounds, Academic, Research and Residential properties ensuring our compliance and safety.
We are looking for a customer focused team player who can work alone or in a team and be able to use initiative to prioritise work demands and meet deadlines. Having prior experience or qualifications in Structural Works would be advantageous, you will have a starter/finisher mentality and methodical approach to work, as well as an understanding of all relevant health and safety legislation that accompanies these tasks.
