Salary: £35,333 to £39,745 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 3rd February 2023

The role

Bristol Veterinary School is recruiting Clinical Demonstrators  to join a community of clinical teaching staff providing support for veterinary students and veterinary nursing students across our various clinical sites (including the farm). This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a developing team of veterinary educationalists within the School, which is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. You will be based primarily within the clinical referral hospitals (Small Animal and Equine) and will work closely with our referral clinicians, nurses and auxiliary staff to help facilitate clinical teaching around a busy referral caseload across a diverse range of disciplines from behaviour to ophthalmology, and taking account of any species bias (equine or companion animal) you may have.

What will you be doing?

You will play an important role in enhancing the student experience. As a practitioner with clinical experience and a passion for teaching, you are not expected to have referral-level experience or expertise. However, you will work to support the students in their learning from a rich, diverse and challenging caseload. You will provide feedback and contribute to assessment as well as supporting the administration associated with formal university teaching rotations. As part of the clinical educational team, you will be supported to contribute to the development of teaching and assessment and research outputs in the area of veterinary education.

The second main component of the role is to act as a facilitator for the new Accelerated Graduate Entry Veterinary Programme which uses a problem-based approach to learning and will be delivered in bespoke, state-of-the-art facilities, presently being developed at Langford. With appropriate training and support, you will enable students to achieve the expected learning outcomes from clinically-based PBL scenarios.

You should apply if

You will also be able to contribute to the development of case-based teaching materials at the start of an exciting new educational venture. There is also the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the Faculty (including Bristol Medical School, and the Centre for Applied Anatomy) in a wider network supporting Health education, research and development.
