Build a Rewarding Career.
Doing things differently.
We’re a small and friendly School, and pride ourselves on the diligence and enthusiasm of our teaching and support teams. Our staff have a genuine passion for their subjects and are active researchers or practitioners, committed to helping students realise their ambitions.
Our vision is empowering staff and students to have positive impact on our planet, through improving the health and wellbeing of environments, animals, plants and people. Our goal is to now enhance and further embed the School’s reputation, by developing our pedagogy, resources, perspectives and ambitions towards this vision.
It’s a challenge we’re excited about, and one that we hope inspires you.
We’re now looking to appoint a Deputy Dean in the School of ARES to help to shape and deliver the schools’ strategic objectives and lead the school’s portfolio developments. You'll be a proven leader, with a passion for innovative pedagogy, excellent student experience, and quality enhancement. In collaboration with the senior team, you'll look for ways to enhance the student experience. As this is a senior leadership role with line management responsibilities, and, a student-facing role, you'll need to have exceptional communication skills.
With degree subjects spanning everything from Environmental Science to Veterinary Nursing, your interests will need to be broad as you seek out ways to further enhance our academic offer. Our high-impact research is focused around four core themes: the natural environment; ecology and conservation; sustainable agriculture and food security; and animal behaviour, performance and welfare. We aspire for excellence through international and interdisciplinary collaboration, and foster a research environment that rewards innovation. Our research is recognised both nationally and internationally, often informing professional practice across the sector.
With experience of working in a similar role and leading change, you can provide strategic planning and subject area insights, with financial astuteness. You should be qualified to doctoral level or have an equivalent and relevant professional qualification or experience, and be a Senior Fellow of a Higher Education Academy (or in the process achieving this).
Our School is committed to changing the world through academic studies, so you will be ready to use your own experience in research in one of our disciplines to provide mentorship, leadership and guidance to research-active colleagues.
Enquiries may be made directly to the Executive Dean of the School of Animal Rural and Environmental Sciences , via email to: dawn.scott@ntu.ac.uk.
