The above post is available on a full time, permanent basis on our Exeter St Luke’s campus, with the opportunity for Hybrid working.  

The role 

The post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences will be to support the delivery of our range of teaching programmes, including BMBS (Medicine), BSc Medical Sciences, BSc Neuroscience and/or our suite of Postgraduate Taught programmes, as appropriate according to expertise.   

The post will include teaching in large- and small-group formats, assessing, tutoring and leading modules, as well as any curriculum development or evaluation work as specified by the programme directors. 

About you 

For a Lecturer post you will: 

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (Optional or nearing completion) or equivalent in biomedical science to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning; 
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students; 
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities; 
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching; 
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this. 

For a Senior Lecturer post you will expected to do all of the above plus: 

  • Have significant experience in managing aspects of taught programmes including oversight of day-to-day operational processes (e.g. timetabling, assessment, examination systems), and/or programme accreditation processes.  
  • Have experience of managing teams and/or functions in a busy environment with conflicting priorities. 
  • Be working towards or be appointed as a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
