We are now looking for Assistants to join our Carmarthen campus at Y Gegin.

- THE ROLE -

You will be required to prepare specialist coffee and hot drinks, and serve high quality meals, delivering effective customer care that will complement the development of Yr Egin as a destination of choice in Carmarthen. Y Gegin has a wide customer base such as the creative community working at the centre, event audiences and University delegates, students and staff, as well as the local community, families and visitors, and therefore you will need to be able to communicate courteously and offer an experience that will urge the customer to return time after time.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as an Assistant at Y Gegin, you will need:

  • Good general level of education including writing and numeracy skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Previous experience of interacting with customers in a forward facing service atmosphere
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organisational skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual, including being unsupervised, as part of a team, and in partnership with others
  • Willing and able to work flexibly with regard to duties, shift patterns and campus locations, and in response to business needs at short notice
  • Ability to maintain a discussion and write in Welsh about non-technical matters*

*Feel free to refer to any qualification that proves your linguistic ability in Welsh, e.g. the Language Skills Certificate, or Welsh Learner levels.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Previous experience of working in a busy kitchen/eating environment
  • Experience of basic cooking
  • Previous experience of working as a till operator
  • Experience of maintaining standards
  • Barista training
