CAHSS / Talbot Rice Gallery

Full time: 35 hours per week 

Open-ended: 

Talbot Rice Gallery are seeking a Duty & Office Manager who is passionate about the visual arts to join our team – to support the operational, financial and HR components of the gallery.

The Opportunity:

This role will be responsible for managing direct report, and recruitment, training, scheduling, and day-to-day front of house volunteer team, managing gallery events and maximising TRG shop sales opportunities. They will also provide financial processing, budget management, travel booking and procurement services for the gallery and maintain a productive working office and gallery environment for the TRG team, regularly reviewing EDI, audience development and student experience objectives.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • HNCC/HND or equivalent level qualifications plus proven relevant work experience. Or Broad experience, acquired through a combination of job-related training and on-the-job experience, demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles. Or A degree plus some relevant experience.
  • Highly organised with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the principles of gallery operations.
  • Broad budget management experience and proven track record in accurate financial administration.
  • Experience in effective staff management with an ability to develop and motivate staff and maintain team morale.
  • Proven commitment to high standards of customer care.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the sector and experience of the publicly funded arts sector.
  • Passion for the visual arts and exhibition-making and knowledge of the creative industries in Scotland.
