Leeds School of Arts is looking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic person as a Senior Learning Officer to join our Fashion Workshop team. The area is responsible for providing a high level of specialist technical support to the Fashion subject areas within the school.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service. They will have a keen eye for attention to detail and an ability to provide practical support and advice, as well as problem-solving capabilities. They will also have excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritise tasks.
The candidate will be self-motivated and willing to work both independently and as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise within the following areas: pattern drafting (block-based and moulage/creative cut), and garment manufacture, across a broad range of fabrications, and including tailoring skills. The candidate will be proficient in the use of industry-standard garment production machinery and equipment, such as digitised/automatic lockstitch machines, 3,4, and 5-thread overlockers, vacuum press, standard and Reiss buttonholers, fusing press, and cover stitch. Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) skills would be advantageous, although not essential.
The candidate will possess a high-level technical of knowledge and have a good general understanding of all relevant Health & Safety procedures and protocols applicable to this technical role.
You will work very closely and proactively with learning support colleagues within the Fashion Workshop and wider School teams to provide an integrated service and thus a flexible approach to working will be required.
